The Saul Haffner Jewish Enrichment Fund was begun to honor the memory of Saul Haffner, a former president and longtime member of the Congregation. The Fund is dedicated to conducting high-quality events with a Jewish connection, open to the community-at-large and reflective of Saul’s many interests.
Donations to the fund are welcome on the Donate to CHJ page. Donors will receive a copy of the book Just a Boy From Brighton Beach by Saul Haffner. The fund has received generous financial support from Saul’s family members, friends, members of CHJ and Haffner Fund event attendees.
The first Haffner Fund/CHJ event was the highly successful Yiddish Cabaret on May 23, 2019.
The second Haffner Fund/CHJ event was A Flood of Ideas: A Symposium on Noah, the Great Flood, and Climate Change, held in partnership with the Federation for Jewish Philanthropy of Upper Fairfield County, on Sunday, November 3, 2019 at Sacred Heart University.
More timely and relevant programs will be produced going forward. One in the thinking/planning stage is about the migration/refugee crisis, on hold as we all deal with the corona virus epidemic. One crisis at a time! Stay healthy, everyone!
