Shabbat Service and Program “Origins of Religion”

October 13 @ 7:30 pm

Save the Date: Shabbat Program

Friday, October 13, 2023 7:30PM, via Zoom

How did things get to be the way they are? How might early Homo Sapiens have understood life and death, given the analogic way we think? And how might early hypotheses have evolved into the range of current belief systems? We will not delve into the origin of any specific religion but rather take a Big Science approach, conjecturing on the origin of a spiritual way of understanding our world.

The presenter is Peter Irwin who lives in The Villages in Florida. Peter has an undergraduate degree in Literature with a minor in Philosophy, pre-med training, and graduate studies in Pharmacology, Computer Science, and Applied Statistics Master’s programs. He worked in Academia and in the Pharmaceutical Industry studying the clinical effects of drugs intended to treat brain illnesses. He was primary author or co-author of over 40 scientific publications, presenting findings at numerous national and international meetings. Over the past two decades of retirement, he has written unpublished plays, stories, poems, songs, and essays and has given talks on a range of topics.
