FIRST 50th ANNIVERSARY PROGRAM

Matzah Without Dogma – A Bold Exploration of Secular Humanistic Judaismadam shalom

To start off the CHJ 50th anniversary year of celebrations, Rabbi Adam Chalom, a leading voice in Humanistic Judaism, traveled to Connecticut from Illinois to lead an invigorating and interactive weekend seminar exploring frequently asked questions about truth, ethics, spirituality, Jewish identity, and more.  Rabbi Chalom was ordained by the International Institute for Secular Humanistic Judaism in 2001 and now serves as its Dean for North America. He is also the rabbi of Kol Hadash Humanistic Congregation in suburban Chicago, Illinois.

       What role does faith play in Humanistic Judaism? How do secular Jews experience spirituality? Can we find profound meaning in a secular life? 

Afternoon Session: “Answering Jewish Questions”
       How can you be Jewish if you’re a non-believer? How are Humanistic Jews related to “the rest of Judaism”? Who are you to make changes to our 5,000-year old tradition?
