November 6, 2016 @ 9:30 am – 11:45 am
Bedford Middle School

Presented by Michael Retsky.
Program Description: In this program we will be showing a video of a medical ethics talk by Dr. George Ubogy of Greenwich, CT. It provides a historical overview of how medical ethics has evolved over the last two hundred years and shows how patients’ rights have become ever more important. As part of the Manhattan Project soldiers were deliberately exposed to varying doses of radiation from the first atom bomb test to see what its effects would be, with no informed consent. In the 1950’s polio vaccines were tested on some patients without their knowledge. We have come a long way since then. Dr. Ubogy, a former member of CHJ, is active at the Greenwich Hospital in monitoring medical ethics situations there.
